Congratulations, you’ve selected one of the world’s finest pieces of cast iron cookware today. Your Krazy Kajun Cookware is designed to last a long time. To cure your new cast iron, follow these simple steps to ensure quality curing.

Cast Iron Curing Instructions:

  1. Fill the pot 2 inches from the top with water and add a box of salt. Bring the water to a soft boil. Stir occasionally for about 20 minutes. This helps remove most of the wax coating.
  2. Empty out all the water and salt. Wash the pot with soapy water, then put it back on the burner to completely dry the product pores out completely.
  3. Coat the entire item with lard, vegetable oil, or creamy shortening.
  4. It is best to place the item upside down on a BBQ grill at 350°F for about one hour. You may also use a stove for smaller cast iron products.
  5. After 1 hour, dump out excess oil. Repeat steps 2 and 3.
  6. After each use, wash out with mild liquid soap. Dry it by placing on a burner. When the cast iron product is dry, allow it to cool. Coat it with oil with paper towel. Make sure the item is dry.
  7. Make sure you store your cast iron cookware in a warm, dry place. Put a small piece of newspaper or a paper towel in the bottom. This helps to keep it dry.
